Billy Elliot Review

Setting off from Baxenden in a coach, a group of us from St. John’s, went to see Billy Elliot the Musical at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. On our way Finchy gave us each a little puzzle to do relating to the Billy Elliot story. Correct answers gained a dip in Finchy’s mystery bag. Needless to say, everyone had a dip!

The musical reviews for the show listed comments like “Phenominal Dance”, “Great Songs”, “Powerful Story”, so it had a lot to live up to. We were not disappointed and the show lived up to everything and more, that was said about it. The young boy playing Billy (13 year old Adam Abbou) was truly exceptional, with the rest of the cast making it something special. A lively show with colourful language helped make this real story of the Miner’s Strike in the 80’s seem ever so real and touching

We all enjoyed our time together and the three hour show simply flew by. Before we could say Billy Elliot we were on the coach back home. Thank you to Dave and Sheila Finch for their organisation and efforts into making this a night to remember
